Turbo Upgrade ?

Hey people. I have had a bad past few weeks. I completed my motor swap from na to 7mgte on my supra. It Started, ran and drove. Everything worked but my turbo. No boost whatsoever. Smoke out the back. even more smoke on decel. At first it rattled made noise had alot of play. I thought if i ignored the excessive play on shaft it would go away and start to boost, but it didnt. So i got myself a rebuild kit an it no longer had play. In fact it didnt want to spin atleast not with a little effort. I thought that if I put it in the car maybe the oil would free it up and exhaust would spin it. I guessed wrong again. I started looking at the forums trying to see if there are any turbos that would bolt up to the stock manifold and didnt find much. I just need to be pointed to the right direction. Any body using the stock manifold but different turbo setup. Does anybody know what flange the ct26 uses. All i ran across was that possibly a T04B would bolt on or maybe a GT45. I know you guys are tired of same questions over an over again an my dialup isnt helping much neither. I just want to drive my supra again please help. I appreciate it.

There are several options, first, you can go with an upgraded CT-26, the 57 trim is most popular, it should give you more power and the same spool but with a slightly shorted lifespan.

Other bolt-on options are the Greddy TDO6 kit, which adapts to work with your stock DP, manifold, etc. for about $1,800 new, so it's pretty pricey, but is good for the 500hp range.

The SupraSport BOSS series turbos are a bit cheaper (start at around $1,500 for a full kit), and are good for anything from 425-650hp depending on what trim and options you get.

The JT series turbos are the least well known, and are comparable to the BOSS series turbos. They're in about the $1,400-1,700 range and can offer anywhere from 400-650hp

The Sound Performance turbos are the most common (except for the upgraded CT-26es) bolt-on aftermarket turbo for the MKIII, they offer similar if not more power than the JT and BOSS turbos, and are a bit cheaper. Early revisions had some reliability problems, but from what I've heard, they've already been sorted.

The best place to find this info is to search through www.supramania.com or www.supraforums.com

Good luck!

Thanks for your suggestions. I spent a good amount on it allready and wont have nearly enough for those kits. Does anybody know if the ct26 uses a T3 or T4 or neither. Would a T04B fit on manifold? Would a GT45 work? Its going to be street driven for a good while if that helps. I have about $500 to spend on turbo alone. Not much but thats all i have left to spend.

The CT-26 has its own flange, so you're limited to the options I listed above unless you get a whole new downpipe/manifold/etc.

If you only have a budget of $500 or so, your best bet is probably to send your CT-26 you have now to a shop to get rebuilt and upgraded to a 57 trim. I think www.driftmotion.com is the best place to get it done.

Either that or look for a used CT to get you by. You can pick them up pretty cheap from either of the 2 forums listed above.

I have a known working ct-26 sitting in my garage, it's just missing the oil line. Typically I've found DIY rebuild kits to be bad news.

Sorry didnt get time to log on these past few days. Driftmotion.com is a real nice site thanks emiliorescigno. I looked on ebay for cheap CTs but dont trust them. If you have a known working ct-26, that boosts and dont plan on using and want to get rid of jeeves. Let me know what you want for it an we can work something out. Like i said i just want to drive my car for now.
