Any reason for fabbing one rather than going with well known, tried and true exhaust options?

If you've got the benders/sections of pipe, flanges, hangers, etc. and have the Mig/Tig welding skills to make a weld that doesn't leak, go for it. I'd personally say Buy one. But, go for it.

The supra exhaust is a pretty simple one from a bend standpoint. As Jeeves said, if you have the welder and skills, it's pretty cheap. 3/8 dowels make great hanger material, 4 90 degree corners will give you enough bends if you cut carefully, a magnaflow can and a cat and you're finished. That is if you don't mind a one piece exhaust...flanges and such add the prrice of a DIY system up in a hurry, but if you can limit yourself to the CT-26 flange only, it can be a cheap and fun little project.

It isn't hard to do. All you need is a hack saw, a cheap Harbor Freight bender, and a simple MIG welder. Depending on how good you are with the welder it may or may not be pretty to look at, but it is doable. If you are just starting out and learning to fab then making a simple exhaust is a good starter project.
