How far can you push a 7MGE on turbo?

I tried doing a search and the results i have come across have not really satisfied the questions I have and was hoping sone of you guys can enlighten me, or steer me in the right direction on where I can find some info.

I have a friend with a 87 Supra NA 7MGE, in which he bought a turbo & intercooler kit for it. He told me he had a T4 on some "Godspeed" header, but the turbo took a crap on him and he bought a bigger turbo that isnt going to work out for him. I'm trying to map another T4 out for him so that he can get his car back together because I am going to be tuning it for him.
Some of the things i'm trying to find out are: How far a stock NA 7MGE can be pushed with a turbo kit bolted on, ie:boost levels (and i know that depends on what turbo we get) I was thinking that he might have the upgrade to a high pressure fuel pump and get a stock Fuel pressure regulator from a stock 7MGTE or an aftermarket AFPR, and also looking for a ECU from a 7MGTE? What are some opinions on this.

He wants to stick with this motor for now, and he does not really want to upgrade anything else major. I think he said something about having ASC to tune it, but I dont know anything about that yet.
A little bit of help or direction would be great!
Thanks,
Bob

Bob,
On stock fuel the 7M-GE should not run boost at all. IIRC it has 320CC injectors while the stock turbo has 440CC. With that said, he would probably max out the stock fuel system below 6psi, from a completely guessing standpoint. ASC I would assume to be an Apexi S-AFC, it allows you to add fuel by percentage points at selectable rpm ranges. It's a bottom end fuel controller found commonly on half the lightly modified cars in the world.

Now, with the problems. The stock manifold is a toyota flange, it's neither T3 nor T4. I understand it's not your car, but some important info has been left out.

1) Is this on the stock Head Gasket/untouched internals?
2) Upgraded clutch?
3) Stock W58 manual tranny?
4) Wideband O2?

Based on what you've said, it's close to the worst idea possible. He's gone big turbo, with no thoughts to fuel system, clutch, or fuel control (due to no wideband.) Also, the N/A block is higher compression and lacks some of the cooling features the GTE block has (oil squirters).

Ideally, what'd he'd need to make this work:
1) Wideband O2 sensor
2) 440cc injectors or larger.
2b) Depending on the boost level he plans on running, a Walbo 255LPR fuel pump. AFPR is really not necessary till later on.
3) Upgraded clutch.

Even with those things though, if the stock block hasn't been re-headgasketed with ARP Studs to match, he's just going to blow the head gasket.

I dunno, I've Never been a fan of the NA-T coversions. Too much work for too little gain.

EDIT: Well, well. 7M-GTE, ok, that's a big difference.

Writing...

7M-GTE's are ok to about 12psi on stock fuel. Anything beyond that and the injectors and fuel pump are going to have issues. However, without other tools, he'll run into Fuel Cut Off @ 12psi anyway. Ideally he still needs a wideband or the AFC is useless and more likely to do damage than good. The headgasket is still a serious concern as is potentially the clutch.
