New Problem: Read Post # 7

alright.. HG changed about 3 thousand miles ago. stock gasket torqued to 75 ft/lb..

never had a problem till about a week ago when i was driving around. the temp gauge didnt peg itself but it went close to the red. then settled back down. it does this occasionally. usually caused by air in the cooling system. well occasionally i get no heat at all.. i mean no heat. blows freezing cold. even if the engine is heated up.. on the way home from walmart tonight it was not blowing heat. i got to the top of the hill and the temp gauge wasnt pegged but it was close..NOT IN THE RED. it settled back down and i had heat..

HERES THE KICKER. i parked the car shut it off and opened the hood. the damn radiator is effin warm..not hot like it normally was but its warm and the engine was fully heated up...

WTF IS WRONG.. could it be the T-Stat is effin up? or whats your opinions

Sounds like you might want to check and replace the thermostat

The radiator and such sound like a stuch thermostat. Cabin heat might be caused by the Heater VSV on the passenger side firewall failing. It's VERY common for these cars.

i replaced what i said i would.. for the thermostat housing is there a special gasket i use. not for the thermostat itself i already have that, but one for the housing?? someone before me used like RTV and it didnt leak. but now it leaks because i ripped the RTV.. is that ok to use?

NEW PROBLEM: when i start it first in the morning it chugs away. only when i start it first thing in the day. it smells like its SUPER RICH. i smell no coolant just gas out the exhaust. itll chug away like its got a real bad misfire or its a rich-misfire then after a minute or two it goes away.. what could cause this??

RTV is fine, though it can be a pain if it's needed to be replaced later.

I'd suspect the cold start injector. What's the temperature in the mornings like?

Couldn't really tell ya. You could try unplugging the electrical from the cold start injector and see if that changes things.
