Anyone ever done it or knows someone who has. I have searched and searched on the net and have found nothing. Someone has to have done it by now. I don't want b/s or "why would you take the 2jz out" crap. A friend and I are looking into this as a project and we simply cannot afford a running turbo supra. Wrecked n\a would be our next best bet and then get an ls1/t56 into there.

I didn't see anything for supras when I searched ls1tech. Lotta threads for the miatas, rx7's, and nissan s-chassis' though. Makes me want to drop one in my s12 or s13

Who needs an LS1 when there's LS7 crate motors to be had?
Depending on if you have possession of the chassis yet, a used SC may be a better bet.
LOL Send some money my way brother. I can get the ls1 and t56 with ecu and harness for about 3-$3500. LS7 is what? $10 grand for just the motor. I have no supra what so ever. I have a 91 Mustang GT, 92 T-bird S\C, 84 200sx turbo, 93 240sx coupe, and a 85 celica GT coupe. Me and a friend are trying to figure out if we should do the ls supra or rx7. I like backseats so I wanted the supra, but they are more expensive then even an rx7. The sc's are okay but I don't like the looks of them, and they never came stick. I allready am in the middle of swapping my mustang and the 240 is a 5 speed swap. I don't want to deal with another auto to manual conversion lol.

if you're going to the effort to drop the T56 in, the manual swap is the least of your worries!
Look for an N/A anutomatic and pickup the pedal assembly. It'll prove pretty cost effective as the n/a autos are likely to be the cheapest option, and there are enough part outs available to get the manual components you'll need. As to back seats, if the people using them are older than 4, they are going to fine them all but useless, or better be contortionists!
I've never seen much on the MKIV swaps either, but the procedures into the MKIII are going to prove very similar, and that has been done quite a few times.

If I could find a n/a auto for a good enough price I'd do it. Sucks there doesn't seem to be such thing as a supra roller lol. Even a salvaged/rebuilt title one would be fine for the right price. I haven't seen any info on this much less a conversion kit so I'm going to have to adapt the donor cars complete harness into the car as well as the f-body gauges, etc. Any backseat is better then no backseat. I learned this when I had an 87 mr2. The backseat couldn't possibly be any worse then my 240's. No where to put your feet or knees whatsoever.

If you're 6' or more the drivers seat is varying degrees of pressed into the rear seat lowers...at 5'8 with teh seats adjusted correctly there is less than 2 inches between seatback and rear seat in a MKIV.
There were a couple of companies that used to advertise on Supraforums with "wrecked" supras available (with many that had superficial or little damage ). Perhaps they still are there, but I haven't visited that mental sinkhole in a long time.

lol and I'm right at 6'1 so it's ganna be exactly like my 240. Same situation there so any backseat passenger had to sit behind the passenger seat or seat behind me with their feet on the middle hump behind the center console. Once I sell my celica and T-bird I'm going to begin looking at this more indepth. I've always liked the looks of the supra, but could never justify the price even if I did have the money (which I don't.....no where near it).

You could look to the 3rd generation supra (86.5-92). Can be had cheap as dirt, and anything that will fit under the hood of the MKIV will fit there too. Kinda convenient that Toyota kept changing engines mid stream so they all fit like that.
Upside: comfy, can be everybit as fast as the MKIV. More (marginally) back seat legroom. I have, with some pain on their part, fit someone 6'3 behind the drivers seat without moving it up all that much.
Downside: you like the mkiv style, which is different, and the 3rd gen has a few hundred pounds of extra fat to haul. Stock body will not accept as wide a rear tire, though with the right offset and a little fender rolling, 315's have been fit before.

The 3rd gens are decent, but I don't think I'd go through the hastle of putting the ls1/t56 into it. The chisled sharp edges, and overall boxy shape aren't too far off from my 200sx ethier, I'm just looking for something different and have always like the 4th gens style. It always reminded of the unholy child between a 4th gen camaro/firebird and a 2g talon/eclipse. The wheels/tires aren't too much of a problem as I'd probably end up using a drag radial. How are the 4th gen's rear end? The stock 10 bolt rear in an ls1 car is garbage with a 6 speed. They're known to grenade even on a good launch with street tires.......With a drag radial or god forbid a slick it would be suicide even peddeling the clutch off the line.

like the 3rd gen cars, I don't know anyone that swapped a turbo's rear end for lack of ability to hold power, though other discussions talk of upgrading to the TRD unit to keep from grenading the third member in 1000hp cars...not sure how true it is. Some go ford 9" to get ratio choices, but not very many.
I suppose if you have some decent fab skills it is doable. You will probably have to make a sub frame and some sub frame connectors. The fire wall and trans tunnel will probably have to be clearanced. The LS1 is probably lighter than the 2JZ. I would put a 9 inch or something in the rear end. I suppose if you really want to do it you can.
