1987 supra sunroof?

I blew the glass out of my sunroof on my 1986.5/7 Supra. I have tried and tried to search for it in junkyards. Does anyone know who put the darn things in? I couldn't find any markings of any kind on it. I even tore down my headliner to try to find it. No luck. Anybody got anything?

damn...I don't think they have been available for a long time. I could suggest a Toyota dealer if it was a dealer installed option, but I wish you luck. Perhaps an autoglass shop can get soemthing that will work for you.

I have tried the local dealer. do you know where I could find out exactly what dealer sold it? by vin or anything?
I have also tried to find someone to make the glass.. but unfortunately the clips would need to be fabricated too, and glass shops are unwilling. Advice?
thanks Bob

You would need to find something related to the dealer in the owners manual or other place if the original owner kept anything. You might try a Toyota dealer to see if they can trace the service history to a dealer early in it's life, but likely not as those records tended to get purged, or erased as they were old/incompatible etc. Heck, many dealers in 87 barely knew what a computer was forget having one.

You might need to look to automotive restoration shops to get someone to build parts, but this will be the most expensive sunroof you ever saw. If restoration is in the cards, great, you might be willing to do it. If you don't plan on making this car special or just use it to get from a-b and plan on not having it in a few years, perhaps a body shop can weld up the roof, install a used headliner and give it a shot of paint...

You might also try larger forums like supramania.com or supraforums.com to see if anyone has had the same problem, or might be parting out a car with an intact one. We love our little forum here, but the numbers say you'll likely find more options on those two.

Problem is thus, the sunroof was a dealer installed option, not a Toyota option. SO, it's going to be 'custom' and one off. Hate to say it but that's rare, and probably expensive.

yep, i agree with bgreiger and jeeves. you'll likely have to shell out the cash for a custom piece from an autoglass place.
