true, i've also found that they're way too overpriced up here. i paid too much for mine, but i still love her.
if you hunt, really hunt you can find them for cheap!!!! there's local guy here who finds them all the time with blown engines but perfect bodies, turbos, n/a's... he buys them for nothing, fixes them up and sells them for a pretty damn good price.
if you go through the insurance companies you might be able to get a list of supras that are out there but not insured, ie sitting in some old lady's garage or whatever.
i'm sure you can find a wicked deal locally, i wouldn't recommend going all the way to the states for an mkiii.
what are you looking for? 86-88 89-92? 5spd, auto? targa or hardtop? turbo or n/a? Price, milage, condition.... let us know we might be able to help you find one.

i'm looking for 92 and up i guess, not too sure about the gen's for supra's, i heard you can get repo'd or fixer upper's, really cheap. I have an uncle in Cali that likes to rebuilt cars as a hobby, i'll be paying for it initially and he'll be doing some minor repairs if need be, the thing is he doesn't have time to look around for a car, and i'am out in Calgary so i can't do much, but if we do find one, it'll be our "project" and i'll be bringing it up here.

Some basic mk3 supra facts.(mostly useless as well)

86.5 - 93 were all classed mk3's.

86.5 were all non-turbos.
87-93 you could get either turbo aor non-turbo.

86.5-88 mark the 1st gen of the mk3.
89-90 mark the 2nd gen.
92-93 mark the 3rd gen.

there is only 1 93 in north america that i know about.
there are very few 91-92's.
the easiest ones to find are 87's.

there are very few differences between the 2nd and 3rd gens.

the more collectible and "worth more" supras are the 92's, and the teal paint color is the rarest, followed closely by light blue.

87-93 all could have targas.
im not sure if i ever heard of or saw a 86.5 targa?
91-93 also had a power sunroof option instead of the targa.

in canada, tems was only available 86.5-88.
in usa, tems is available 86.5-93

in canada, heated seats were added in 91-93.
in usa, heated seats was not even an option.

the heated seats and tems control panels occupied the same spot in the center console, so ordering both was a definite no-no.

mkiv?
check out adrenaline (sp?) motorsports. they're out of ontario somewhere. they buy and rebuild mkiv's for cheap, relatively speaking.

this guy is eager to sell his mkiii. so i'm sure he'll take way less than he's asking.
