Warning lamp& inspection

I have a warning lamp on, it is beside the door warning lamp. It looks light tail light signal or something. How do you put up a picture? If I can I will put one up of it. I just want to know what the lamp means. I have some inspection questions too. If my EGR has been blocked off will this pass the safety inspection? What do they check with a safety inspection and do they look under the hood? Also will the warning lamp cause it to fail safety inspection?

Those change from county to county. Even the same state won't always have the same laws all the way across it.

That sounds like a CEL ...check engine light. If so, you can read what the fault is by either the direct method described here for OBD1 http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/eng...bd1_codes.html or for OBD2 http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/eng...bd2_codes.html

or if you have OBD1 you can this Techtom reader http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/techtom/index.html

It is near the check engine light but looks like something to do with the tail lights.

I think you have to have the photo hosted online someplace like photobucket or imagestation etc. Then you use the "post reply" button not this "quick reply" box; in the post reply window there is a little icon for "insert image" where you put the link to the image you want to insert into the post. But if it's not the check engine light, what I said before doesn't apply. Is this on a MkIII or MkIV? I can look at my MkIV dash tonight to remind me what light that is.

If you can find one of those, I'd like to know.

It could be that you have a taillight out. I know my wife's Camry and my Supra has an indicator for dead bulbs in the taillight. They usually light up when there is a change in the circuit such as when a bulb goes out, the taillights are replaced to JDM or different years, or the bulbs are changed to ones with different resistance. The warning light in the Camry turned on when I put JDM taillights on, and on MKIV's they go on when they are swapped for 98 taillights.
