I have a flex pipe coming out of my exhaust with a hole now. Took it to the mechanic and he said he wasnt sure why it was a flex and recommended i change it to a solid pipe. I was reading around though and found that it might be more desireable to have a flex pipe there so nothing "rips apart". Just kinda getting mixed feelings, does anyone have recommendations? Thanks!!

Flex sections are better for preventing damage to the turbo/manifold from the exhaust jarring around (stresses), solid pipe are better for flow and durability. They've each got their handoffs.

Who came up with this 500px wide BS?
@bgrieger: ah. Yeah luckily i'm a good parker hah. I can't imagine how much it would suck to back into something, shift the whole exhaust and then crack some piping up at the turbo. bah! that would suck balls.
@Jeeves: ah alright cool. So how much would a flexpipe mess up the flow of your exhaust?
I don't really know. While I've got access to flow calculation software there's a lot of variables and unknowns. I don't know flow on the hot side, I don't know turbulence, etc. It's just easy enough to not have one.
