How can a true JDM 7MGTE swap be identified?

Im pretty clost to buying a supra with a supposively JDM swap. 123,000 on the chassis and 43k on the swapped engine. Hmmmm...kinda sounds fishy when he says he does not have the paperwork. Any suggestions what I can look for? thanks

If they swapped in the whole works, there should be no provision for an EGR on the intake manifold. If they swapped the manifolds, there really is no way as the block and head castings would have been identical. You could look to the sides of the head and see if they have any overheat buttons secured to it...but that might only tell you the head has been rebuild once too.

I am not sure what paperwork you are looking for. If he did his own work then the only paper to show would be the bill of sale for the motor.
