3rd Generation Exhaust/wastegate/ turbo question

I have an exhaust leak at the manifold, instead of pulling it all off and just replacing the gasket i've decided to just go ahead and purchase an exhaust header. So im looking at the pipe assembly and I notice these two pipes coming from below where the turbo mounts (i.e. external wastegate flange) now to my question, because i dont necessarily want to upgrade my turbo system just yet what do I need to do about the external wastegate mount area? Can I remove the stock wastegate and replace it with a new wastegate to fit that header flange, or can I somehow bolt a blocking plate over the external wastegate flange?

::on a side note, is running about 9psi on stock internals and HG going to cause me any HG problems in the near future?

thanks,
Jeff

I'm just trying to make sure I'm clear on this...you've purchased a new turbo manifold that has provision for an external wastegate? That would mean you bought one that is not a stock Toyota manifold? You mention a stock wastegate, so I take it you have a stock turbo to go on? If these are all correct, you'll soon discover a greater problem is the turbo won't bolt on either...the stock turbos are a unique bolt pattern.

If I'm wrong, please let me know.

unless you plan to upgrade very soon, I'd first check the studs haven't stripped out of the head, and if they can all take the torque, then take the manifold off, take it to a machine shop and have them smooth the mating surface (if needed), then get a new gasket and bolt it down. If the studs have pulled out, you'll have to helicoil the head and then you can bolt it down again. Do not under any circumstances overtorque the nuts on this or you will be helicoiling in short order. A bear to do with the head on the block unless, and even if you have a right angle drill!
