transmission issues.

hey guys. I dont technically have a supra, but my lexus has a 1jz-gte engine and auto tranny from a toyota soarer.

my issue is with the tranny. recently it started lurching really bad when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear, and my rpm at 80mph was about 300rmp higher than normal. my overdrive light was constantly flashing too.

i took the car to a reputable transmission place here in jacksonville and pretty much had the tranny rebuilt, i think just about everything was replaced. i picked the car up this morning and it was driving just fine, i didnt beat on it at all due to traffic. so later on in the day i drove it again, now it is lurching slightly when going from 1st to 2nd and it wont downshift when i hit the gas, it will downshift just fine if i do it manually with the shifter, but it wont do it automaticaly.

obviously i'll be taking it back ASAP. but what is you guys' take on this? electrical issue? some kind of sensor went bad?

Thanks for any help.

huh...you posted a lexus and/or possibly soarer problem, but didn't bother to mention what you have in common with a supra here other than Toyota made both of them... You might have got a similar response, or lack thereof, by asking a similarly vague question such as: Why is my Corolla down on power after I had some work done? Since you're a noob, I'll spare you the tirade about reading comprehension, and suggest only that the Lexus section would have been the correct place to post a model specific question, and probably would have given you more answers/an answer.

As to my response: We own supras, you own a hacked lexus, and said you were taking it back to the guys who did the most recent transmission work, so I would hazard a guess that they should know. If they don't, my best advice of the day is close your hood and get recommendations for a good trans shop in your area, and hope this one didn't really jack something up. If there is something we share in common that may be at fault, please let us know and we might have something for you.

It may not be a tranny issue, but a swap related issue. I am not sure what model Lexus you have, but if it is an SC hit up ALSC, or Planet Soarer. I picked up a bit of info there when swapping a Soarer motor into my Supra. Picking the right forum is key to getting good info. Since we don't have Lexus models it is kind of hard for us to help you.
