MHG Estimate... Sound right?

So i talked to the owner of a shop around my house and he said hes done a lot of headgaskets on mk3's. The estimate he gave me was 700$ in parts, ARP Studs, MHG, and a toyota seal set or whatever to replace all the other seals and 800 for labour. So around 1,500 total. Does this sound about right and is it worth paying to have him replace the other seals too? This is something i can't do by myself because my friends are american guys or car retarded and i live with 2 girls, wich means NO TOOLS!!!!! Sucks ass...

Sounds quite reasonable for someone with some experience. I take it this includes the machine shop work to prep the head and block?

Well he told me 1,500 and thats what a guy with a 88 turbo paid to have all seals repalced, MHG, studs, and machined. And he records of over like 15-20 mk3's that hes replaced headgaskets on so he must know what hes doing by now.

Don't take a chance

Hey, no offense, but you need to make sure he has that head resurfaced at a quality machine shop. You will simply be paying $1500 in another 3 or 4 months if you don't.

30RA is the magical number you want to machine the block and head to.

definately make sure if it's gonna be machined. There'd be no sense in wasting the money if he's not doing it properly.

I'm already 2/3 ready for my headgasket. I've already for the ARB studs, had the head decked, just gotta get the MHG (i'm thinking HKS), and finish up the bottom of the block.

Got's my work cut out for me. I'd rather pay someone $1500 like you are haha.

Will if i had the tools, and knowledge or a father figure to help me with it, i would SO do it myself. But no, live with women, wth.... I bought a set of tools and less than a month later i couldn't find a damn socket or anything that i would need. Its ridicolous.
