Australia 1jz-gte or 1jz-ge

I have a jza70 supra which had a 1jz-gte motor but it had low compression in 2nd cylinder. Decided to exchange the motor with another 1jz-gte. Then decided to go the big single turbo -Garrett gt3076 and new computer - apexi power fc. All seemed fine until after installation of bigger fuel pump etc. On the dyno it only run 370 rwhp but the set up should return figure close to 450 rwhp. I beleive that i got ripped off with the motor - they installed a 1jz-ge and bung the turbo, manifold etc on it.
I want to know how i can difinatively determine if the motor is a 1jz-ge or not. I did not see the motor at time of install untill my turbo, manifold, sump etc was on it. The motor has high compression 10:1 which makes me sus. I know that the cams have different duration on the 1jz-ge and i think all the major internals are not as strong as those in a 1jz-gte. Is there any way to tell from looking at the block itself? Any help appriciated so i can rectify the situation.

What makes you think the kit will do 450? Perhaps your tuner is the problem? Perhaps the user you are comparing to has a few mods you don't know about? Perhaps the guy that sold you the turbo lied a little, or took the numbers that turbo can support on a different engine?

There are so many variables as to why a particular engine will not make a certain power level that may not have to do with the block. As you said, the GE is a high compression engine...you won't be able to support a ton of boost on pump gas. Is the turbo maxed out making the 370? Are you running out of fuel to support more boost? Are you on the same type of dyno (dyno dynamics, common in australia, are very different from dynojets and read quite a bit lower...).

As to the 1j external differences...perhaps a 1j owner can chime in, but there are so many different issues when you say you can't make a certain power number.

Thanks for the reply Bob,
Well i havnt really posted enough info to support my drama. The car has been on three seperate Dyno's for a total of 2 dozen or so runs. Boost level is set to 20 psi. Turbo is capable of around 550 hp i am told and i have just had it serviced - bearing redone but no dramas with comp wheel etc. Cam timings have been checked but no problems there.Fuel pump flow tested, injectors tested, K&n 12 inch filter pod replaced, exhaust checked - catalyctic converter was partly colapsed but now has been removed. New high flow fmic installed.
Several car tuners have gone over the car and all have come back to me with the same question - The motor is underperforming and the compression is too high for a 1jz-gte, is the motor a 1jz-ge?
I honestly think that the company that replaced my motor have pulled a shiftie on me and probably thought that i wouldn't find out. I know that they could have saved alot of money by only supplying a 1jz-ge and i had allready supplied them with the garrett turbo, exhaust manifold etc to put on it. I will not, however, accuse them or take it further if i can not get difiniative proof that they have supplied me with the wrong motor, hence my question - can i tell from looking externally weather the motor is a 1jz-gte or a 1jz-ge?
