Random things

So I want to eliminate some of the vaccume line bullshit when I get my engine back to together, and I'm not sure which ones to start with. Any helpful suggestions on how to delete them would be nice. I also want to cap my egr and elimnate that from the system. I did it on my old s10 and my old ranger, but I'm not sure how to go about it with this one.

There's not really a lot you can eliminate. You can loop the two on the top of the throttle body by a short piece if you get rid of the EGR. This will also allow you to remove the EGR VSV, however it's already out of the way under the intake manifold. As for blocking EGR. I don't believe you can really do that with the engine in the car.

Alright, thanks. I suppose I mainly want that egr off of my engine. It actually discolored my #6 cylinder fairly nasty. My head gasket was really close to blowing too. I think that the egr heating up that cylinder has a lot to do with it. Do you have any idea how to elminate it? my engines stripped right now down to the block

You would have to plug the exhaust port to the cooler, and again on the intake side. You can then run without the cooler. Alternatively, you can replace the headgasket with a metal one at the correct torque and never worry about it again either way. I take it you are going the metal gasket route given you have gone this far into it?

The EGR has a cooling chamber ont he back of the head. It is a rectangle bolted on. Inside that, you will see the ports to the head and the 6 runner of the exhaust. Some who have to pass emissions but insisted on removing the EGR have plugged the ports inside the cooler and left the EGR system assembled and operating knowing it does not get any gasses through, but passes visual and some operation testing.

I personally don't condone defeating the EGR in the first place as all the blame on it over the years is misguided for headgasket failures...the headgasket fails because the Toyota torque spec is too little to do the job. Repaired right, it never fails again, egr or not, and the EGR does reduce pollutants released into our air.

You are right, I guess I dont really have to do it. It really won't give me any benefit. I had my block decked and my head sliced, and I'm smashing a cometic or hks head gasket in between with arp studs. Most likely going to go with 75 ft pnds and a retork after 600 miles.
