Hey, Toyota Nation. I'm a pretty new user, so be kind. I was thinking about getting a supra for my graduation gift, but I don't know what year to get and what kind of miles to look for.
I drive a good old Camry right now and I love the Toyota brand.
I don't know too much about cars, so any advice would do.
Welcome! What do you want to do with a supra? That has an enormous bearing on which would suit you best. That is of course ignoring which do you like the looks of the most. Some will say the MKII for the old school, more raw feel with fewer complications and gizmos, the MKIII crowd generally appreciates a big, heavy quick luxury GT car, and the MKIV crowd tend to look to the big performance potential, which compromises some comfort, while still being perhaps more civilized for driving than the MKII.
^^^hahah. Does meterme have the kind of money to spend on an MK4 TT Hardtop?
Better luck on an MK3 Turbo Hardtop.
And Bgrieger is right... the MK2 has that raw power feel without all the gadgets. I used to love driving my friend's. Or a simple solution... MK3 + 2jzgte swap = MK3.5
I was being sarcastic. I've got some Mk2 buddies in town. They hate me for how easy it is to find aftermarket parts for the mk3 and how absolutely difficult it is to find them for the mk2.

Who came up with this 500px wide BS?
oh okay haha. Yeah my friend had one that I was thinking of picking up long before I got my MK3, while my other friend had an MK3 so I got a taste of the aftermarket pinch. Kinda glad I waited on getting that MK2 because about 2 years later a really good condition MK3
Personally, if I had gotten the MK2, I wouldve swapped in the 7m-gte into it.
hes right, mk2 is love based, you have to really love your car to spend the time it takes finding parts. But to be honest with you, I wouldnt trade my MK2, I would only buy an extra MK3 lol
MK2 means swap to update, thats bascially it, time and money on custom fitting of new parts / engines. Its worth it in the end though, you have something really rare and simple.
Another good option is to buy a built MK3, you can get those things to move.......
Yup I understand what you mean about the love part of owning an MK2. I still want one even though I own an MK3. I've seen a video of an MK2 with a 2jz in it. That thing scoots!
Buying a built MK3? That'd be costly. Plus you wouldnt get the satisfaction of doing all the work yourself lol
Sounds like you do not knowing to much of the supras, I would say either a 84-85 Celica Supra, or 90-92.5 Supra Turbo. For all the cars, the lower the miles the better. Reason for the year difference is because of small changes to those exact models. Or if you got the money then get a 93+ Twin Turbo is a no brainer.
