Polyurethane engine mounts

I'm looking at polyurethane engine mounts. Vibrations are negatives, any others? I know that an engine should have some sort of give and take in the engine bay, but with these apparently the engine will barely move under torque. Not sure if its the best idea or not.

I take it they are the BIC ones you are looking at. NVH will increase, but the degree to which you don't mind it will be a personal thing. I like the stock smoothness, but I have an 87 which is not as smooth as the 89+ either, so poly would likely not drive me nuts, but it might for you if you enjoy not realizing the sensation where you have trouble telling if the engine is even running without the tach.

Keep the rubber. Those are pretty worthless for a street car. The rubber soaks up a lot of engine vibration. The extra noise will drive you nuts. I am not a fan of parts that make a street car noisy or harsh.

You don't need the added reinforcement unless you have a built motor. You also have to consider the other weak links in the front end. If you stiffen the motor mounts, the next link in the chain is the rubber subframe bushings, then the subframe and body. The whole car has to be reinforced as a system. You can't just change one thing in a car and expect good results. If I had a car that was laying down the kind of power that requires me to consider the motor mounts I would be looking to put in a cage and subframe connectors to stiffen the whole car.
