Speakers

I bought a Sony head unit at best buy and it came with a set of free speakers from dual. I wanted to know if they will fit in my supra or if they will have to be fabricated in. They are 6.5" I don't know what the factory size is. So will they fit?

If you have a 91 or 92, or like making your own baffles, you are in luck!

They are 4 inch. As I mentioned, you could make your own baffles and mount whatever you want.

I think they're actually 4.25 or so (or was that the rears?).... Doesn't matter though, 4" will fit in either the front or rear and will sound as wonderfully shrill in either case.

Anyway, after listening to the stockers in my '88 for a week it didn't take me long to decide I needed something else. It's easy to make brackets for 6.5" speakers to fit the doors and you'll probably really like the difference. There's a writeup posted on another site... I'll see if I can find you a link so you get the general idea how the brackets look in the end.

I can't find the thread I'm thinking of, but here's one of someone who made a set. It'll give you a basic idea as to the desired shape.

Would a place like circuit city install them or would they want extra? I just moved into a appartment and they don't want people working on there cars uless if it is an emergency. So for now it has to be done at a place.

At most places like that they will do the install free if you purchase over a certain amount. Usually about $300 or so. Otherwise, it is about $50.
