I dont know yet. My friend told me its the bearing thats making the knocking sound and he told me that if im gonna stay with this car im gonna spend more money. I was thinking just to get another car same car but it goes with the turbo already. u know mine doesnt have a turbo. But im still in the process of thinking and massive thinking im so confused so Im gonna think about this carefully.

thanks,
kristoffer

Kris, I would probably look at finding a turbo car and spend a bit of time fixing it up. If you do a complete rebuild of your engine it will most likely cost you quite a few bucks. I know that you also planned some bodywork for your car - maybe you can find one that doesn't need a lot of work.

Check out autotrader.ca. There seemed to be quite a few reasonably priced turbo's available a couple of weeks ago.

Just my thoughts,

Vic

i searched autotrader last week, and it seems all the good supras are missing in action. only a few poor representatives were found.

I would drive this one as long as you can, and start saving for a turbo version. that is if you were planning to turbo this one anyway. Boost is alot of fun, for sure.

if it is knocking, but still driveable, you can limo it around for quite a while until something really brakes. Ziggy and mike had a white 88 with turbo. it ran fine and everything, but had some rust. it would have made a nice interim car for about 1500, but they have already started striping it down to the frame now. they probably have the motor you could get for your car, but youd need all that na to turbo upgrade stuff as well, and it can be a big job if you don't know what you are doing. i certainly don't know what i am doing most of the time.

well Kirss what are you looking for, power for racing, just a nice street car, cause if you want the nice street car, hell yeah drive this one till it dies and Ill take if off your hands, then get your turbo car, but if its power you want stay with this one and give it a FULL overhaul, ald you wont even need a turbo when done right, the 7m head breaths quite well enough to handle a nice high compression like lets say ballpark of 11:1 or so and that right there will stomp even a stock 2jz TT a new mud hole. Turbos are nice, but compression is where the money is, dont believe me, then why dont top fuel dragsters run turbos, but they do run massive I mean mad ass compression to get that methanol to burn.

you do realize that top fuel dragsters run bigg bad super chargers, which is still just another form of forced air intake.

Of course boost is nice when u have the budget, everything is easy when u have all the budget u need. Im on a job hunt rite now and its not easy for me rite now..I think since my plan for my car is to go drifting im not gonna put a turbo in it. N/A engine should be enough power to get this car go sideways. I just want to get rid of the knocking sound. They told me labor would be expensive but i dont look at it that way. I have a friend who has a shop and he can always give me a hand to work on my car. A box of pizza and pack of packs of cigarettes would be good enough for him. So they told me its my rod bearing what are the other things i should look for?
