Heat problem

The heat stopped working on my car. I have heard it is mostly do to the water shut off valve. How can I by pass this valve? Do you pull the hard line and put it directly to the top of the water shut off valve or route another line? And with the VSV part do you take it off to bypass it? Also my hard line to the valve has a small hole in it so what is the diameter of the line?

You can re-route it to the top vacuum port as you mentioned. This will turn the heat on, but it will always be on. I did this for years, and put a golf tee in when I didn't want heat in the spring again.
