7mgte rings

I finally purchased my rings for my gte and installing them is one thing I have never done before. I bought them straight from Toyota, and they are standard size. For some reason the guy at the parts counter said that I should have the endgap checked and have the rings deburred and prepped before installing them into the engine. I thought if I bought them orgianl from toyota ($210.00 later) that I wouldn't have to do much of anything except use a ring expander to put them on correctly. My block has been blueprinted and cleaned, painted and the cylenders have a light hone in them to break in the rings. What should I do with the rings?

I've never gone quite that deep myself, but if you have that much money in the engine, I'd take the advice and swing a few bucks to have my machinist give them a once over and do whatever he suggests. Why take a chance on so little extra?
