The Mk3 is a very heavy car, especially with the targa option. The power to weight ration and fore to rear weight balance are also not nearly as ideal as that of a 240 for drifting so most people don't choose it for that 'sport'.

There's a lot of drifters in my area, and on the forum I run there's a rather large following, but it's not something I actively do.

Ive done it alittle in my car already. It was kinda scary at first, but once it broke loose and started sliding it was easy to control. Hey jeeves what kind of aftermarket parts did u put on your supra to get over 400hp?

Heh...

Let's see.
- Full Exhaust
- Front Mount
- 550cc Injectors + Clips
- VPC + AFC + Wide Band + Good Tuning
- Upgraded (T4 Flanged) Exhaust Manifold
- Larger Turbo
- Walbro Fuel Pump
- Intake
- Boost Controller

Then the traditionally required components...
- HKS Metal Head Gasket
- Machined Head
- Machined Block
- ARP Head Studs @ 92ft-lbs tq. (or something... I've forgotten now what I torqued them to)

And then there's the accessory stuff that I did that isn't required but helped push me over...
- JE Overbored pistons (0.020" Over) + Rings
- ARP Connecting Rod Bolts
- Clevite 77 Bearings
- Balanced

I think that's what I had at that point in time. 400whp (wheel horsepower) isn't hard, but that isn't to say it just is like bolting up an intake and is there.

I've never tried with my 88 Turbo, but I talked to a guy who drifts his 89 N/A and he said its no good for drifting which is why he was wanting to get rid of it for a 240. 240's are great drift machines. Lightweight, a breeze to control, and easy to kick the backend out on (well, if its the DOHC).

Supra's are Japan's dragster. Much better in the straight line. Not saying it can't be done, but it is definately tricky in the higher speed corners.

I agree. Jeeve's Supra is niiiiiice.

Once in awhile... I use to do it often 3 years back. But our big open parking lots got burned... My friends and I had a couple good ones out here in SoCal... Its best to practice during rainy days at big wide parking lots practicing anything and everything about drifting.

Make sure not to get caught up by the police.
