Charging Problem MKIII 87 turbo

The battery and alternator are brand new, however, the battery keeps dying (which is why I bought a new battery and alternator to begin with). I am noticing the black/yellow stripe wire in the back of the alternator is not showing 12V as the other wires are, it is reading in MV, less than 5 volts during peak. I know this wire runs to the ignition switch but is there a 12V source I should splice to get the alternator to cut in????
Oh, this is my first Supra and first post here, any help is greatly apreciated!!!

Nevermind, I tapped into the 7.5 amp fuse for charge under the hood, it is keyed and spliced it into the B/Y wire at the alternator, she is now charging just fine. Looks like I'll need a new ignition switch to fix this problem instead of rigging it...I hope they're cheap, already spent over a grand in new parts and am now broke...

I would try and get one from a salvage yard if possible.

It may be the switch, I'm hoping it is just a wiring problem as when I hit the horn button the headlights come on. So I know there is some wiring problems coming from the steering column.

It's something I'd expect to see in a comedy movie, not in real life. The PO has done a hack job on the wiring inside the car, I don't know why, but he just cut and spliced everywhere. It is very frustrating as you can buy wiring on ebay, they have the dash wiring and engine compartment wiring relatively cheap. I'll never buy from a hill billy again.
