Canada SUPRA-Thinking of buying, Advice?

Hey everyone!
I'm new to this forum. I usually spend my time over at the GEN 3-4 Camry forum, but tonight I am considering buying a 1989 Turbo Supra. It has the targa roof and 300,000 kilometers-(187500 miles) on it. The body and paint is good, white in color. That's about all I know right now. Are there any things I should look out for when I go to look at it? I know my way around Toyotas, but anything specific to Supras? I am open to any Pros or cons, please share problems or good things about Supras so I can get a big picture of what its all about. Thanks alot for reading, and posting! oh yea, If I do buy this Supra and end up over here more often, I promise I won't use these face thingys so much!

Welcome to the Supra chapter of your life lol

Take a good look at the engine. Odds are with those miles it's going to need a headgasket and soon. Ask if it's been replaced before.

Thats one of the main Supra problems with the 7mgte engine (and even the 7mge).

If you do get it make sure to post tons of pics for us to enjoy

well, anything that can go wrong with a 20 year old car can go wrong here. As will pointed out, the headgasket is a primary problem with the car from the factory, but more important will be the overall condition of the vehicle. Inspect thoroughly for rust, in the fenders as well as behind the interior panels in the hatch and the spare tire area. I hope this won't be a daily for you as at this age, maintainence is more an issue, but there are still many who do it.

Good luck,

Bob
