Use the search feature. It's a common failure. If you can't find it, try "Heater VSV".

SINCE YOUR IN CT AND ABOUT TO GET REAL COLD, YOU MIGHT WANT TO TRY THIS WORKAROUND UNTIL SUMMER. I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND REROUTED THE VACUUM LINES ON THE HEATER CTL VALVE AS FOLLOWS:

YOU MIGHT HAVE TO FIDDLE WITH IT GET IT TO WORK.

CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO INSERT LEGABLE TEXT THOUGH. HAD TO DRAW...

Canada

Three weeks ago my 90 Cressida had a heating issue. Very little heat and engine not coming up to full temperature. -20 to -30°C at the time.
Bought a thermostat from toyota for 20 dollars and all is good.
Takes about 10 minutes to switch out.

Now this morning the fan has decided to crap out. Took the van to work.
If I can't get it fixed quickly the Supra gets to see some winter.

90% of the time if no other heating/cooling issues are apparent, it's the Heater VSV. However this has been posted about many times in depth, hence my referencing the user to try Searching the Forum for answers first.

I've got nothing against people being helpful, it's just a common problem. Feel free to add input whenever. I don't mind.

@Joey, I'm not fully understanding what you did. If the heater vsv actually failed, you can usually just disconnect the VSV hose, and slide the little lever up by hand to allow coolant to flow into the heater core. You don't have to disconnect any hoses or even spend 5minutes doing that. I think in mine I took a pair of pliers and bent the actuator arm out of the way so that it moved freely, but that was back in 2003 or so.

If it works, so be it.
