celica supra 5m block w/ 7m head?

hey anybody out there has ever heard of a frankenstein or even attempt such a swap 5m bottom block with a 7mgte head. anybody know anyone who has done one or any articles on it. i was thinking about doing something like that with the stock ct26 turbo kit. i have seen a 1jz head on a 2jz block before and that is mad fast. any help would greatly be appreciated.

It has been done, but I've never understood why one didn't just change blocks as well if they were already in for that much effort. Not like the 5m computer can keep up with a turbo regardless of the displacement.

will the reason why is that the 5m 8:1 lower compression compared to the 7m 9:1 so that makes it better for a turbo set up but like you said the 5m computer would not handle that but the 7m ecu can easily be swap in. i was thinking of using all 7m component but use the 5m block. i can easily swap in a 7m setup but what fun is that? do you know of anyone or any sites that has any info on this frankestein setup?

7mgte has the lower compression ratio and would be most ideal for boost outside of the more expensive jz series. Given torque is less a factor on the MKII, I like the stock 1j as a powerplant myself, but it is far more spendy!

That said, there are examples of the swap and build you propose at celicasupra.com.

thats true the 7mgte does have a bit lower compression by .4 lower and the 7mge has the higher compression of 9.2:1. but yeah the 5mge has a lot of potentail as well. thats something that not alot of people think about. the difficulty of dropping in a 7mgte or a 1j is to much plus money wise($2500 for the 1j and $1500 for a 7mgte thats just for the block not including hardware and modifications). id like to keep it as simple as possible, slap on the head, manifolds, fuel rail and injectors, intercooler, oil filter adapter, wiring harness and ecu, and etc... i say id possibly spend about the most $1000 or less. i have most of everything from my mkiii, so that makes it easier.
