Question 87 N/A Starting problems

I am having some trouble getting my Supra started. At first I thought it may be the alternator, but it checked out. I then replaced the battery (the one it came with was kind of crappy and didnt hold its charge) The car would start to turn over but died 2 seconds afterwards, so I thought maybe fuel wasnt getting to the engine. So I bought a can of starting fluid and as I sprayed it into the throttle body the car would turn over and continue to run as long as I kept spraying. So from there I replaced the fuel pump. After that all I got was a click. I dont know why the car isnt starting. I looked around on different forums and found that it may be the starter/solenoid or the ecu. If anyone could help me out and give me your input that would be great.

Are you sure your battery is at full charge? The "click" is often a sign that you don't have enough power to turn over the engine.

I would be willing to bet it is not an ecu problem.

It is a used battery from AutoZone. So I'll test that out, I'll hook jumper cables up to the battery and see if I can get a crank.

Do that and let me know how it goes. You do need to have your Air flow meter hooked up in order for it to run. So I hope you are not spraying starter fluid into your Throttle body directly.

No, everything is hooked up the way it should be. The air conditioning was taken off, but I doubt that is the problem. The only other thing I can think it is, is wires from the starter. I noticed that they look cut and spliced, and I even pulled out some "resistor" typer thing out of the end of a connection and reconnected it to its proper spot. I am going to call the guy I bought it off of to see what the hell is going on. (FYI, it was partially the fuel pump. He told me it was a brand new one when I bought it, but it was a junker one he installed, even if he did.)
