USA '85 Supra in mint condition given as gift

I am being given a 1985 supra (showroom model), non-turbo, as a gift. It is in unbeleivable condition, oil changed every 5k, until 50k miles, and then every 3k changes.

Is there any nuiances or quirks I should know about this car?

What is a fair price for a car in this condition? It has all options, as it was bought as the 'showroom' model, and has been taken ridiculously good care of.

Any advice or suggestions?

beyond continue to treat it as well as you can, I'd recommend getting some pictures posted, and enjoy the drive!

The MKII had almost no particular issues mechanically, but at this age anything can and likely will happen at some point. Rust was a bit of an issue in the rear quarters and the hatch. If you have no signs, I'd get that thing rustproofed inside the panels with a rustcheck or similar fine spray and keep it up every couple of years depending on weather and your driving conditions.

Living in CA, you're not going to have rust issues. Just enjoy the car and show us pictures!

It's an '88, not a 85.

Thanks for your responses. Any other advice anyone out there has, please share. I get the car Monday, March 16th, and will post pics asap. Thanks again!

With 50K on the clock, I'd have to agree. Enjoy the hell out of it!

Got the 88!

This car kicks serious ass for it's age. No pics yet. Sorry.
The A.M. radio works fine but no F.M. Just dead. Think it's a fuse? Havent had time to check yet

Fuse excuse

Your right on the fuse. Maybe it's the 20 YEAR OLD radio?

My lame ass phone does not have a phone and I keep forgetting to borrow the Sis's.

Hey the fuse panel listed in Manuel as being on 'passenger side kick plate'? Where the heck is that darned thing?

Love this car.

Does anyone really use the Targa top? It's almost too much work than it's woth....

I see you revised the age...an 88 is the MKIII, and in that case it is a whole different animal, and it has a few issues. Of particular concern: you want to read around on the blown head gasket issue, and get it tested to ensure there are no current problems.
