out of curiosity, you dont just wanna do it yourself?
Have you read up on this swap? Or priced it? 2JZ's are not cheap nor are the ideal transmissions to go with them. Alternate transmissions can be used but this just makes the swap trickier and such. Combine that with the OBD2 electronics or the standalone and there's a whole slew of reasons that you don't find 2JZ swaps in other Supras often.
How many swaps has the guy done? This isn't a project for the weak of heart or the weak of well, wallet.

Who came up with this 500px wide BS?
Jeeves does ahave a point its not cheap, althought it will be 10 times cheaper than a shop doing it, the motor is gonna run anywhere from 1200-2000 depending on miles turbo or n/a blah blah blah, the tranny u can just use an r154, i used it on my 2j and it worked perfectly, all you need is a different bell houseing and from there youd be btter off goin stand alone to get full power out of the motor, there pretty cheap too and youll be way more happy with that setup, especially with the part knowing you did it yourself. it does take time tho like jeeves said, it can be difficult, nothing is impossible haha, if i could push back an rx7 firewall 5 inches and shoved a 7m in it, well anythings possible haha
well at the time i had to make my mind up and rebuild the 7m motor which was crap because two and a half weeks after the guy rebuild my motor it started to show the same problems befor the motor was rebuilt. just the other day i had put water in it and tried to start it and water was leking from the back of the intake side just the oppsite of what had happened the 1st time. note this was after my car had over heated after sitting only hours after putting water in the radiaitor after the my temp shot up to the red line.
Sorry to hear...Water leaking: You need to find why and where it's coming from. As you describe, there are 3-4 places I can think of that are not related to the engine itself (hoses etc). Of course, it could be a head gasket failure too, but search the simple stuff...find the exact location of the leak and let us know.
i saw the water coming from the back of the intake side of the motor and it was a good flow of water near where the motor is against the firewall. Do i need to take it apart to see what went wrong with the gasket? as in the first message i really dont want to have to drop another 3g's into the car but if i cant fix the problem this time im going to get a 1jz with the tranny for 1950+tax so i really hope i can fix the problem i need a car to get to work and back
There is a hose that runs around the back of the head...it is a nightmare to replace hence I do it everytime I can get close to that area. You might have simply split that...there is also a pipe that runs around the back of the engine just at the top edge of the block near the EGR...again a hose may have let go, split or a clamp failed... The gasket is unlikely to release a lot of this way, but a hose will
thanks for that info ill be sure to look at it when i get the chance and now to start on my new bought project my 89 7mgte that apparently needs a new wiring harness and it is seemingly difficult to find an entire harness (uncut) i was wondering if you or anyone else knew where i could find on for cheap. Thanks for the help guys
Sure looks like they got their hands on some Toyota stock and are reselling them to me. Look at the bags:

The way they list it you need to provide your vin...which they will provide to the Toyota dealer that they are drop ship ordering from. You can likely get it cheaper from the old jay marks toyota (I can't ever remember the new name) out of texas as they do mail order parts as well.
Ok thanks for the info on the harness guys. But now back to the 7mge i checked the oil yesterday and there didnt seem to be any oil on the dip stick and what was left had water on it and this is the second time my car has over heated. How much will it cost to replace the gasket with some arp head studs? The labor is takeb care of but i need the cheapest route as i can get. This car has been trouble since i bought it and all i need is some tips on why it over heats. Maybe the heater core is cloged??? Help me please
