Short of taking it somewhere, look at the impeller blades. If you see chips or damage, you may have a problem. Check the shaft play by wiggling it side to side (radial movement), then end to end (axial movement). A small amount of side to side is probably ok. End to end movement is not so good.

That said, if it spools up, and seems to be alright, I'd just put it back in and be done. If you are particularly anal about getting it all perfect, you may need to look to a rebuild, or an upgrade.

Thanks for the help. There are no chips in the fins and there is no axial movement. There is some side to side but not bad.

If i were to go with an upgrade what would the best?
thanks

Its a toss up. I like the 54-57 trims myself, as they produce great power, have excellent response (stockish) and still flow far more than stock. They also don't appear to have much in the way of reliability issues. Many prefer the 60 trims for the added power potential, but find them not as long lived in use. Speculation is that the large heavy 60 trim wheel may be too much for the shaft. They also usually need a clip of the turbine to really make full power and still flow enough exhaust, but that only serves to slow the spool down even more.
