MODERATOR EDIT: Sorry Jeeves...I hate to keep removing the online TSRM links, but with TN being a commercial for profit site at heart, you have no idea the seriousness of the cease and desist order toyota's lawyers passed over to TN for copyright infringement, and that our very existence relies on us continuing to remove these links where we can find them.
ARrrgghhhh.
What good is it if I can't even link the image? There's not a copyright in the world that doesn't allow fair use as such. You're not hosting the content or distributing it. Any chance I can read the C&D from Toyota?

I've not seen it myself. The admins and owners let us mods know there were some lengthy and heated discussions over it with Toyota. Posting, posting direct links to, and images from the TSRM are all for our purposes considered violations of the agreement they came to with Toyota to continue to allow the use of logos, the Toyota name and other details. I will ask to see if I can get a copy of it.

I'm only curious (and I know you're not the higher up guy to take this up to) but their for the reasons for censorship/blocking seem only valid in the idea of not promoting the knowledge (not pinning TSRM links) and not officially handing out literature, etc. The extremes seem, well, extreme.
Right in the rules of the forum it states:

I also thought several lower level court cases (none had made it very high) had ruled it as free speech (not that TN doesn't own the sevice and thus the right to maintain and prune it.) within the rights of the Digital Millenium Copyright Act of 1998.
Being unable to post a diagram of the grounding points from the TSRM feels a bit heavy handed and not very helpful to the end user, just my $0.02,

Even with the wire taps and stuff, it should still start...
I'm inclined to say it's not a ground issue but I don't have a good direction to point you in. As I said, there's a lot that can actually prevent ignition. If you're not getting codes though, that's promising.
It's a non-interference engine. Maybe timing has been done incorrectly? Losen the bolt on the distributor cap/cam position sensor and try rotating it at various angles and cranking?

yeah...no codes. I re-checked the timing belt alignment and re-checked the distributer...
its just the fuel pump relay buzzing that really makes it a tough call.
there is a bit of a spark when I re-connect the ground...which makes me want to say something grounding out somewhere...
That'll happen with most any system just because there is a draw of sometype somewhere in the system causing a spark when you connect. Mine sparks lightly. Throw your multimeter into amperage mode and put your meter inline with the terminal, like this:
That'll give you an idea of how much current is being drawn. Now, most are fused for 10Amp. The car in while Off will draw FAR less than this. With minimal accessories (no stereo, no lights, no fans) you should be ok on the ACC/On setting.
Either way, it should prove short or not, I'm betting on not.
