removal of Parking Brake cable

How do I remove the parking brake cable, passenger side?

I need to replace mine due to a horrible incident related to an aborted attempt to use tire chains on the car in a snow storm. I have it out of the backing plate, but I cannot figure out how to get it out of the frame rail. The manual does not mention this procedure at all - probably because it should not be stuck in there like mine is....

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If I remember correctly, hit has splines on the outside edge (toward the wheel) that must be compressed to get it to slide out. It should pull out toward the center of the car. It's been a long time since I pulled mine out, though, so I could be wrong.

That part is easy - I just use a small hose clamp to squeeze it all together. What I cannot figure out is how to get the cable out of the hole in the frame that it passes through before it gets to the wheel. Which way are you supposed to push/pull it?

First time for no help!

I found hte answer - when I pulled myself far enough under to get to the clamp near the front end, I saw the clamp hiding right behind the frame rail.

The spring on the end of my aftermarket cable was about 3 inches too long. I had to use my Dremel tool to cut off each coil of the excess spring and then use pliers to get them off of the cable. What a major pain in the ass!!!!!!!!!!!!
