wiring problems

I need some guidance for an issue that I am having with my tail lights. When i first bought the car the running lights didn't work. So I changed all the bulbs out and the fuses and they still didnt work. I found a trailer hookup wire that was installed. I took it out and wired everything back. Now the running lights work but the Brake lights dont work now. Anyone can help me please.

Do you get power to the sockets? If so, the fault is in the grounds. Common problem, but you will need to clean up the ground points and that should do it. If you get no power, you likely have a failed taillight warning sensor. You can wire around it (though you lose the sensor), replace it, or in some cases repair it. I think someone has quoted the repair here, but certainly if you were to search on supramania.com for taillight failure you should find it quickly enough.

wiring trouble

thank you for the reply. i do have power to the sockets. Also do you know of any websites that I can get the plug wiring diagrams from. There are some wires that are out of the sockets that have socket pins on them. If you can help me with this too it would be fantastic. Thanks

None that I can post here (or anyone else for that matter). Posting Toyota copyrighted material or links to sites containing such material is a big violation of policy here. That said, I have heard of some people that have gone on google with keywords like mkiii supra tsrm and said they were able to find the guides quickly enough.

Alternatively, if you're going to be tearing into the car a fair bit, head over to your local Toyota dealer as they still stock most of the books. Mine has proven pretty useful over the years as I get the year specific details for me that the online versions don't, and the one area that is really useful is for the wiring. I also don't have a computer in the garage and don't want grease on my indoor keyboard.
