Toyota Recalls

Hey guys, I would just like to get everybody's perspective on the recent recall with Toyota. It would seem that the media and people in general are really flipping over backwards over the whole thing. I personally believe they need to chill the *uck out, since this is Toyota's first major recall. I think that toyota themselves are in shock as to what to do, and that's why they have delayed coming up with a solution to the problem. Its almost like people are getting some great satisfaction at catching toyota in a bind with a major recall. Oh, so, lets turn our attention away from these rather dangourous and ridicuouls recalls from Ford and Saturn; The cruise control on Mercury Sabels from 2001 up until 2004 can/will sieze up over time and start on fire while being used. The vehicle will then maintain speed with no way of stopping short of turning off the car, thus loosing power braking and limiting your stopping distance. The saturn Vue had a big problem with its rear trailing axle, and in steep turns, it could actually break off and slide out from under that car! Or how about the new Ford mustang in which the gearing can jam up in the rear axle and thus if you are on the highway, you could spin out of control? I guess what I am trying to get at here is why is it only a big deal when a successful and reliable car company has 1 or 2 problems over the years? My sisters ford escape has over 17 recalls on it! Big ones too! Wheres the media bashing on that? It really frustrates the hell outta me. I say to toyota keep up the good work, you guys really do know how to make a car compared to many other companies!

same here, i give props to toyota for acknowledging a problem, and they acknowledged it with what 4 confirmed cases? how many houses were burned down by the relay in the ford exploder, towus, f series, even the escort.... then we think back to the pinto. dont get me started on gm, and dodge. im personally surprised though with how people dont just do what they taught everyone in drivers-ed though goin back to the spring problem on the old rottenchesters, and zeinith carbs. put it in neutral and apply the brakes!! lol

I'm confused as to what the Toyota Recalls have to do with Supras? This probably belongs in the General forum, where there are already way too many recall threads.
