ct26 rebuild

Ok im rebuilding a ct26 turbo for my 88 supra but i cleaned the marks i made to line the wheels back up. Do i need to take it in and get it balanced as a unit or can i just put it back together? The wheels look like they were balanced seperately.

they are balanced as a rotating assembly when rebuilt, but might be seperately balanced at the factory...I wouldn't want to bet on it though given the downside!

The shaft, compressor blade and nut need to be balanced. When reassembling, the nut will have to match a balance mark the shop will place on the compressor wheel.

I looked at my parts again and found marks from whom ever rebuilt the turbo before. i dot it together but it as .015 of an inch up and down movement is that to much or is it ok? it had .053 of an inch before i took it apart.

What exactly have you done with this turbo? If you've taken it apart, everything on the small part of the shaft should be rebalanced. The compressor nut should not be reused, but replaced and balanced also.

They only need the shaft and everything that goes on the small end to the compressor nut-including the nut.

Since you're in TX, contact ATS Racing and ask them who rebuilds their CT26's into CT27's.
They're in Denton.
