overheating engine/ no coolant flow?

i turn on my car to get it running and keep the stuff flowing but after about 10 min i hit red line and my thermometer freaks out. i had the thermostate changed and the car was parked over winter what should i check first before i end up paying $400 plus for a full system check.

ok.... first check for leaks. then what i would do is try to flush out your coolent system to see were the clog is..if there is one...... i'm not sure how the water pumps seeing as i never replaced it...but make sure thats working. I'm not a mechanic but thats what i would do. I always check all the components one by one... i usually find it, but if i don't then I ask around, and then I go to a garage if all else fails.
