Angry Won't start

Car was running perfect I shut it off then went to start it back up and all it does is crank. It was suggested to check the fuel pump by jumping it to hear if there is spray. Can someone explain how to do that in detail? Any other ideas what would cause this all of a sudden.
Thank you ! ! ! ! !

well.... what i usually do when any car does something like that i check three things....

1. Spark: to test this (after checking connections) i usually take out a spark plug one at a time and connect the spark plug back in the wire and hold it to the valve cover(while holding it w/ pliers) and have someone try turning over the engine to see if it sparks.

2. Fuel: i know in mine you can hear the fuel pump starting up when you put the key in the on position

3. Air.... usually not a problem in this situation but thats the order i check.

i'm not sure what you mean by crank though.... does the engine physically try to turn over and does not stay running or do you mean the engine doesn't rotate at all.... if thats the case it's the starter........

what you need to do to check the fuel pump the way you are talking about it is to do this..........

there should be a box right behind the main fuse block on the right side of the engine.... what you want to do is turn the ignition to the on position (without starting the engine fully) and then inside the box you need to cridge the very top left terminal (A) to the bottom left terminal (B):

then just verify there is pressure in the fuel inlet hose... you may or may not notice the fuel pump running.... but you should tell by the pressure in the hose

good luck though... keep us posted

hey i would try and jump your car at all i have a 94 toyota tt and i jumped it once when my battery died and as i was tkaing the cable of it sparked and friend my ecu igniter chip. it was 530 buck for a new one and i dont think it is worth it at all so u are better off to take the batter out and charge it. when i blew that chip it would turn over and but i wouldnt get any spark out of the plugs either so u might have to check that out as well as a last resort thing. hope u get it figured out
