You want to put a 7M-GE in a JZA80? Did you perhaps mean the other way around - 2jz into an MA70?

OK. It has been done, but the benefits are quickly outweighed by the efforts required IMO. Firewall needs modifications, transmission is a question mark, engine management has to be the 2j or standalone and that has to be made to work with the chassis electrical system. Subframe has to be 89-92.

Easiest method: find a 1j bellhousing (this is one of the tougher parts...). It will mate the R154 and 2j together without having to modify the shifter location, though you will be using the 5 speed. The 6 speed moves the shifter back to about where the TEMS buttons are, and required interior mods. Never looks right in those I've seen. Wire a standalone. I can't imagine trying to get the 2j computer to talk to the car. Automagic, forget it. Not going to be successful as you need to make the ECU talk to the tranny and speed sensor systems.

All other ancillary parts as required (cables, levers, relays, electrical odds and ends).

Add the prices, you can get a fresh built 7M modified that will kill the 2j for the same money.

HTH,

Bob

7m to 1j is a common swap, but few projects ever get running right (wiring issues). Anyhow...supramania, supraforums and the torontosupraclub.com sites have far more information from those that have done it successfully...though I'll suggest the standalone is still the easier way to go given the rewiring required anyhow...

If you can trace out all the ECU wires and find harnesses and get it all straight...sure, knock yourself out. The ECU might complain about some sensors the 90 has, and some it does not however, so you'll have to stumble over them as you find them. Hence I say the standalone is the easier way.
