3rd Generation MKIII Supra Question

Hey guys i have a supra and its all wired up for a turbo (88 7m-gte) what my question is will the gte harness work for a GE for the time being until i get my GTE machined. Also i have the ecu for the GE? I know that there is an extra knock sensor port and there is a coil pack instead of distrib. Will it still work?
Thx in advanced - unkillablepaseo

nope. You would need to swap everything to a GE. As an alternative, why not just pull the GTE, swap the GE block and head with all the GTE parts and install that...it would be an oil slightly higher compression, squiterless GTE for a bit.,,just don't turn up the boost and it should be fine until you can get the GTE done.

That could work , however wouldnt the compression issue just kill the rod bearings or kill the head gasket, what about the oil squirters? Over time it will end up hurting the block? Also you are saying convert the wiring back to GE and use the GE Block as a GTE right? Another thought... when i bought the GTE engine the head wasnt there, I read i could use the GE head, is this true?

I thought you were looking to build your GTE and swap something in for a short term...

In order:
Compression does not kill bearings...anyone telling you otherwise should put down the wrenches. Headgasket is not really an issue from compression at stock boost. If you swap in a GE it has as much chance of failing as any other 7M powered car. If it was replaced, you may be fine. If not....roll the dice

Oil squirters are a plus and help keep the pistons cooler, but the car will run fine without them if you aren't trying to do anything beyond stock.

No, I'm saying keep everything on the car and just swap the head and block from the GE in where the GTE was, Again, your post suggests this is a temporary condition while you get a GTE built.

You could use a GE head without problem.

Yes your correct. just a temporary motor. Im only 18 so im learning slowly ha ha.... I was just wondering about the compression issues. Ok and one last question regurading the wiring. You said to use the GE as a GTE. There is an extra knock sensor on the block right? Will this be an issue?

By the way i have nearly everything from the turbo head but the head alone. (cam covers, cam pos. sensor, coil packs, turbo intake manifold, mass air sensor) just about everything i can think of off the top of my head.

Thank you Mr. BGrieger, Your help is much appreciated.
