Welcome to TN!

You'll need lots of extensions and a universal joint. A wobble shaft extension will also work. You can get to it from the transmission end. You basically need to look up the tunnel from the rear of the trans to see the top bolt. It helps if the car is reasonably high up so you can move around some under there to get in position.

On the 87 (might also apply to the 88, but does not for the 89+) you could also remove the alternator and go in from there with extensions and a friend to guide the socket onto the nut. Later cars had a threaded hole in the starter, early cars had a nut and bolt. If someone replaced it at one time, all bets are off on which you may have as they are interchangeable as I remember.

Final option: unbolt the transmission from the body and lower the rear of the trans a couple of inches to see it more clearly...not much better mind you.
