clutch problem

Hello, everybody. Our 2002 toyota carolla have problem recently.
Dealer said the clutch worn out and we need pay all the cost by ourselves. We just bought this car 2 years ago and only about 20,000 miles. We have 3-year-warrant. Do anybody know why they don't cover the cost?? Thanks a lot!!

That makes no sence, if you have a 3 year warrenty then they should cover the cost, especially if it's worn out after 20,000 that clutch should last for years to come. I'd go back to the dealer and tell them to pay the cost or your leaving the car and demanding your money back.

Question Warranty repair question

Most car warranties state they do not cover normal wear items. Like break pads, windshield wiper blades, etc.

I'm not sure about clutchs. If they fall under this or not. Check the fine print on your warranty paper work to see.

However 20k miles and a warn out clutch is a problem.

I would check around to see if anyone else with this type of car is having the same issue at the same time (~20k miles) if so there is a clutch defect and toyota should recall the cars for this.

If not however it could be determined as a one car thing and good luck with that. Car dealers are a pain to deal with.

I wish you luck.

if im not mistaken, the clutch is part of the power trane, which means its not listed under the normal wear and tear items. if the car dealership refuses to cover costs, threaten to take legal action seeing as you have a 3 year warranty and its only been 2 years. also it is kind of shaky that your clutch is going up after only 20k miles. id look into the credibility of the dealership, see if there is any other problems like this that have popped up.

Clutch or not, the warranty should cover it, unless they're pulling your pants. Go try another dealership. It's even good enough to put a new engine if it's too serious to fix.
