Need Help!! Car isn't firing up!!

1987 Toyota Supra N/A 7MGE:

Just finished my BHG job, and I have everything back together again. I tried to start it and it won't crank over!

My voltmeter is up so it's not the battery, I cleaned the plugs on the starter (maybe bad connection), check for spark from the plug wires (all are sparking), set crank pulley to "0" mark & cam gears matched to groove's in the backing plate, readjusted the timing belt tension, and yet it still doesn't fire up.

You can hear the engine turning, but it doesn't start. I was told by other people that it could be my distributor. But, I can't seem to find anything wrong with it....Any suggestions? Either on the dist. or starting it in general?

look for a used, but in working condition distrubutor for a good price, switch it and see what happens

Well I recently had the same problem and I thought it was the fuel pump. I have a 90 Turbo that I garage and didn't drive for two years but I started it monthy. By only letting it run for a couple of minutes each time I was slowly fouling out the plugs. Then the car would just crank without starting.
Just had it fixed and I was shocked at the condition of the plugs considering they only had maybe 1000 miles on them. Considering the job you just completed I am sure the plugs are new but I just wanted to let you know that fouled plugs was the furthest thing from my mind.

I talked to sum guys on SF. Found out it was my ignition timing.
It fires up now, but it USED to idle at about 1400 after I advanced the timing us much as I could.

I was hearing a loud hissing noise from the intake manifold side of the motor. My dudez from sf told me it could be a undertorqued or missing bolt on one of the manifolds. Checked ALL my bolts and everything is tightened up on that side.

NOW!!!
I find a huge cloud of smoke coming from the exhaust manifold side. Hmmm....

Figured I'd need to tighten the bolts down over there...
So -> I DID and now the car fires up (reaches 600 rpm and dies immedietly)!!!!

AHHHH! I might just try to part this thing out if I can't get it to run. Any ideas?
