It's been too long without my supra. My mech. finally decided to get up and get some work done

I just thought it was worth mentioning. Had to deal with some high heat issues in the block. Mech replaced the rad, comp tested all cylinders and all that. Temp gauge is still acting funny, but the engine seems to be running fine. Ive been road testing it 4 a couple of days and the temp as jumped a few times, so I'll have to see the mech tomorrow just to make sure the t'stat is still kicking

Other than that.... I guess thats all really...thX 4 hearing the frustrations

What made you sent your car to your mech in the first place?

Just interested to know if you did something serious.

Heres the sequence

1.) car spikes on the temp gauge
2.) unattentive me, doent take notice
3.) some time goes by
4.) <-notices that temp gauge is now very abnormal and coolant is being chugged faster than bubble tea @ 168 -tapioca
5.) car gets thermostat replaced
6.) car is fine now
7.) until temp gauge misbehaves again
8.) <-gets the car to the mech cuz now the rad is smmmoking
9.) several weeks later, new rad, new starter + compression tests and rippin/installing new wires plugs and so on

the rad was plugged so bad that only 1.5 litres of fluid would go in..
so - my mistake + my primary mech is not an import specialist = mistreated supra

but its on the mend now... Jef thought it looked OK when i met him @ speedtech, but the mechanical repair still needs a couple tune-ups before the car is @ 100% again

compression tests showed that it wasnt a BHG (which is what i thought at first)

Salim, may I recommend our forum-approved Toyota mechanic, Basil at T-Lex. Basil is a Toyota-trained Lexus and Toyota mechanic, and used to be a Lexus team lead/mechanic at Don Valley North Lexus Toyota. He also has a Supra himself, I think an MKII.

Every member who has gone to him has been impressed by his knowledge and attention to detail. He is especially good at troubleshooting uncommon problems. You should definitely pay him a visit.
