wiring, wiring, and more wiring. Might as well go turbo

Physically, it should mount in with the same mounts, even (the 1JZ/2JZ bolt up to Cressidas with factory mounts).

If your thinking about doing the 7mge might as well go with the 7mgte.

i will probably go with the 7mgte as long as it's not too much more money. but what parts are needed for the swap, any? is it neccessary to buy a complete 7mgte with manifolds and all or is there anything i can use from the 5mge on the new motor?

Anyone who tells you this swap is a waste should be beaten, it was a waste to make a n/a Supra. The swap is very simple, everything is bolt-in, think about it, same car, same engine, must be bolt-in. Differances between the 7m-gte and 7m-ge are that the GTE has oil squirters, a turbo oil return in the block, intake cam is different (pre 87-88), low comp pistons, ECU, wiring harness, PS reserviour, intake manifold, extra knock sensor, coil pack, CPS, and of coarse the turbo, exhaust, and IC with piping. Also the manual trans is different turbo/na, turbo is the R-154 which is very beefy, n/a has the W-58, driveshaft is different between the auto, n/a manual, and turbo manual. Rear differential is different between the years and models regardless of manual/auto trans, all n/a's got a 4.3 (sport packages got a 4.3 LSD), 87-88 turbo's got a 3.909 LSD, 89-92 turbo's got a 3.73 LSD.

Links I got from www.supraforums.com

7M Wiring

The C1 connector(yellow connector near ignigter)

The B1 connector(Large yellow connector near ECU)

The M1 connector(Small yellow connector near ECU)

Wiring diagramThis is a large BMP file.

Also check with some of the other forums changing the whole motor is alot easier then try to upgrade the 7mge with bolt on parts. Also is cheaper
Hope this helps

Also if you decide to go with the 7mge you can change te intake flex hose and canister to chrome.
What is needed is a 92-95 honda civic chrome intake (autozone 35.00) On the long side cut off 1.5 " and make sure there are no burrs. Then mount it right on.
Reason for using this on eis because of the vacuum hose from the power steering low idle. If pics are needed let me know I have this on mine 7mge Looks nice.
Also look into getting bigger radiator no matter which one yo ugo with. then mount 2 10" electric fans ( can be mounted to the fan switch on the thermostat housing (yellow Switch)
