i'm thinking of buying this 87 supra turbo i found cause modding my cougar anymore is pointless for financial reasons and illogical for warranty reasons. so i started looking around for a rwd 5 spd car i can mod to hell and back. that brought me to the supra turbo, 240sx, and 300ZX... the one with the most potential seems to be the supra so i am here in search of advice from edumacated folks of the know:

1) how much would it take to get it to 13 flat or below?

2) how much would it take to get it to 10's?

thanx for any and all information

The Supra is by far the fastest car out of the 3, go for it. try to get one with TEMS...Toyota Electronically Modulated Suspension (corners like its on rails)

to get the car in the 13's is not hard, you're looking at 600-1000 of parts and work if you're paying someone else to do it. To get the car in the 10's is gonna take alot of work, new turbo systems, intercoolers and worked internals...figure AT LEAST 6000 to get it running low 10's

yeah way better than the cougar, driven both and own one and i totally love the supra, the cougar was nice to but i didn't like the lack of power the engine felt like it had, i mean the 200 in the supra seems like it put out more than the cougar, i've raced them in my camry and they're jes barely beat me, the cougars that is, and i have an I4.

well the coug definately does need more power i'll giv eya that hands down. they shoulda dropped a 3.0 duratech in there to begin with... frickin proverbial cougar S that never came out was sposed to have the 3.0. a mtx v6 should spank your I4 camry, i killed the poo outta my friends atx 4 banger several times with my atx v6 (and the tranny in my car sucks nuts). i just want to get a supra so i can modify the crap out of it and keep my coug for cruisin...

My buddy was considering the Cougar or the Cougar S just before it was supposed to come out... then I found him a 94 Mustang GT 5.0 5spd for super cheap and he grabbed that... not one regret.

the cougar S never showed and prolly never will. i'd buy one if it came out, but whateva, my friend has a 5.0 with some bolt ons that can run low 13's all day long, i wanna pull up next to him in a straight six and stay right beside or smoke him... tomorrow i go in to get a job if i get it i buy the supra (IF it is in relatively good shape) if i don't i wait some more...
