Hey guy's,I have a 87' Supra non turbo and I'm trying to find a high output alternator for stereo competition for this car and can't seem to find one that you don't have to custom install.Any help would be appreciated.

All the ones I've seen require custom install.

Powerhouse carries some H/O's for the 7M. I don't know if they can meet your competition needs, but combined with 2 Optimas (or spirals) plus a battery isolator, it might do the trick.

...see if that helps.

Thanks supraturbo,I can get a custom fit for a couple hundred less than the alt on that site, good to know in case I ever find myself winning the lottery! I didn't know my stock alt was 100 amp, maybe I'll take off my Jacobs electronics pro street ignition and run a couple of batteries, someone told me that the Jacobs would fight my system for power.

supraturbo,
They may be on a page called 7mgte electronics, but there is a problem. They state that it replaces the 100amp one for the Auto and the 90amp one for the SIX speed. Only Mk4 Supras had a six speed. Are you sure they are really for the 7m?

Ask some of the alternator shops near you. Many do rebuilding to spec output (within reason) and for not a lot of money. We've got a few options for that here, and I can't imaging you wouldn't have it too.

You mean getting my existing alt rebuilt to a higher output? I have always heard that those kind of rebuilds don't last long, thats why I haven't pursued that route.

No rebuild lasts as long as factory new ones do, but a good rebuilder can get many happy years of service out of them. Really good builders can get near to stock life. You might want to ask some audio shops in your area for who they recommend, as I'm sure they've seen the results of some of the local work.
