Might be as minor as valve cover gaskets

Might be as major as piston rings

I doubt it's a blown head gasket. But that just might happen eventually.

When all eles fails, do a compression test. If you've got the plugs out, you've already done all the hard work...

usually its just oil from a slow leak in the valve covers. The 3rd valve cover gasket (The center one that has the spark plug wire holes) Drys out quickly and doesn't keep out leaks anymore once its hardened up from the engine heat.

check the valve cover gaskets. That is a pretty safe bet.
