Targa Soft Top

Thankyou -- Jeeves, Damone,, & Bob Grieger,, for your advice, I have another little quirk that has been at the back of my mind for years and I have never ever seen any Supra owner put a convertable soft top in the hard roof targa section of the car,, for those quick rain showers we experience while cruising in summertime ,, I would have thought that some custom shop would have caught onto that by now and could have probably enhanced the appearance a little ,, not that it needs much , pesonally I think the car looks great as is,, however the soft top would be handy even for those hot sunny days.. Has anyone seen such a modification ??? Many Thanks Knot Yew..

I don't know a good way to do this. The primary reason is that it'd need to cover the entire roof if it rained. If you look at where the Targa bolts in, it doesn't do that.

The only good way you could do something similiar would be to buy some Targa Bars (they're reinforced bars that mount into the Targa Holes to stiffen the chassis when the targa is out) and sew some material across the bars. That would work, but you'd have a several inch gap on either side.

Personally, the best mod I've seen was a sunroof IN a targa. I don't desire a cloth top at all, but having a sun roof would be great. "Just want some light? A little air? Pop the sunroof. Want the whole roof out? Put the targa in the trunk!"
