looking for help on wut type of engine would be good to put into my supra any suggestions??
(performance wise but street legal ;P)

Street legal is tough in cali. IIRC, you guys are basically restricted to the stocker. You could likely drop in a 6M without anyone taking notice, but 7m or j series will be a dead giveaway.

Perhaps a worked 5m head on a 7m block (basically a 6m) is another option.

To be street legal in Ca, it needs to be an engine from the same manufacturer (Toyota) and come from a newer car. A 7M or 2JZ in an MK2, if swapped with all the required smog equipment, should pass smog legally. It'll need to be certified by the smog referee first though.
