hey guys, what do y'all think of the 96-00 jzx100 toyota chaser tourer v w/ the 1jz-gte motor, 280 hp 268 tq, rwd. 0-60 sub 6 sec range. this motor is i think the same as the mkiv supra motor w 320 hp, 315 tq. the diff. is the displacement. 1jz-gte:2.5 liter twin turbo i6 2jz-gte:3.0 liter twin turbo i6. the thing is the 2jz is capable of 1400+ whp w/ full engine rebuild, the 1jz is capable of half that and then some. the 1jz is a cheaper motor to get if you wanna swap it in your lexus sc300-400 (toyota soarer) than the 2jz. if money wasn't a factor, i'd get the 96-00 toyota chaser tourer v exported from japan (about $20,000 duty, $23,000 for the car). i've called around and that's what i was told about pricing. the 1 jz motor, ecu, wiring harness is about $1500 or less, the 2jz is $4500 or less. this car is somewhat overlooked by the toyota "nation" here in the states.

It's the '96-'00 Cressida (the Chaser/Mark II/Cresta triplets) that North America never got.

MKIII Supra guys would know a considerable bit on the 1JZ as well, considering the MKIII DID come with it in JDM-land.
